Right next to the Keukenhof flower park is the grounds of Keukenhof Castle. These freely accessible castle gardens are open all year round and are an ideal stopover during one of the cycle routes or one of the sightseeing tours. In the summer, enjoy the beautiful dahlia gardens in the castle grounds. You can have a bite to eat and drink in restaurant De Hofboerderij. The estate also houses a petting zoo and the LAM Lisse museum. Behind the estate is the Keukenhof forest where you can take lovely walks. Regularly (paid) events are organised on the estate. In short, there is plenty to experience in the gardens of Keukenhof Castle.

Hop off at the castle gardens of Keukenhof

The world-famous Keukenhof flower park is part of a larger Keukenhof estate. This estate consists of various parts and can be visited free of charge all year round. A visit to the castle gardens is an ideal stopover on a cycle route through the Bulb Region.

Keukenhof petting zoo

There is a nice petting zoo on the estate. Here children can enjoy goats, pigs, chickens and many other animals. There is an indoor location and a large animal pasture that the children are also allowed to enter.

Gnome trail Keukenhof

The start of the fun gnome trail of 2 kilometres is also located at the petting zoo. On this walk for children, you follow the route on the basis of fun gnome poles.

Restaurant de Hofboerderij

Relax and enjoy the delicious snacks and drinks of the Hofboerderij. From a cup of coffee to an extensive lunch. It’s all possible at Restaurant de Hofboerderij. You will find this restaurant in the middle of the estate near the children’s farm.

LAM Museum

The LAM Museum is located on the estate and gives you a unique art experience in 45 minutes. It is the food art museum of the Netherlands and has a top international collection. You must reserve a ticket with a starting time in advance. You can choose whether you want to pay for your ticket (7.50 for an adult) or have your ticket sponsored. Book your start time here

Keukenhof forest

To the south of the estate lies the extensive Keukenhof forest. The Keukenhof woods are located on an authentic beach ridge. This is special, because many sand barriers have disappeared. In the Keukenhof woods, you experience the landscape as it was before it was excavated for bulb cultivation and the construction of towns.

Average visiting time

The estate is very extensive and the duration of a visit depends very much on the activities you want to undertake. On average, a visit lasts between 1 and 4 hours.

The estate is open all year round and from 8:30 to 19:30. Restaurant de Hofboerderij and the LAM Museum have different opening hours than the estate.

The castle gardens are free to visit. During events, the estate may be closed. Check the Bollenstreek Events to see if there are any events

Cycle routes

The castle gardens have limited parking space and therefore this is not a good starting point for your cycle route through the Bollenstreek. However, it is an ideal stopover during your cycle route or sightseeing tour. Enjoy the many activities in and around the estate for young and old.
